Paris Hilton, a name with which many people are familiar, is a young socialite woman who thrives for attention. When she was in her late teens and early twenties, she sought out each and every opportunity to snag the public eye. She appeared in movies such as Zoolander, Wonderland, and The Cat and the Hat, but has Hilton spiraled out of control since then?

On the night of August 27, 2010, Paris Hilton, and boyfriend Cy Waits, were pulled off the road by police from suspected scents of marijuana coming from the Escalade in which the two were located. Later on in the investigation of the vehicle, police said that a small bag of 0.8 grams of cocaine fell out of Hilton’s purse. She claimed it was not hers. “She told me the purse was not hers and that she had borrowed it from a friend,” Dennis Flynn, Las Vegas Police, stated. However, Hilton did admit that other items found in the purse, such as 1,300 dollars in cash and multiple credit cards, were in fact hers. This was the third time the celebrity has been accused of drug possession this year.

In court on Monday, September 20, Hilton admitted that the cocaine found in the purse was hers. “I said that the purse wasn’t mine to the officer, your honor,” Hilton stated. She has been put under probation due to a plea deal for the next year. Hilton will have to stay out of trouble with the law for the next year or she will face jail time. Also, the judge said that Hilton has to complete an intensive substance abuse program, pay 2,000 dollars in fines and complete 200 hours worth of community service. “You have to understand. When you break the law here, there are consequences,” the judge said.

After flying to Japan Tuesday, September 21, Hilton was denied access into the country from officials at the Narita Airport. She was denied access into Japan after pleading guilty to the drug misdemeanor early on Monday. Hilton had a scheduled news conference to promote her fashion line in Tokyo on Wednesday. The celebrity had to face an hours worth of questions by authorities who were trying to determine if she should be allowed to enter the country or not. She was later asked to stay in a hotel located in the airport so authorities could continue their procedures.

It is now uncertain whether or not Hilton will continue her promotional tour due to her encounters. Hilton’s probation did not limit her to staying inside the United States borders. “She intended on fulfilling her contract and is trying hard to do the responsible thing, but this is beyond her control. She is very disappointed by tonight’s events.” Dawn Miller, Hilton’s representative, said.
