Christmas is just around the corner, and we are all getting excited for its arrival. The craziness of buying presents for family and friends is coming to an end, and it’s about time to prepare for reunions with your family. One of the most important reasons of this holiday, other than the birth of Jesus Christ, is spending time with your family and creating memories; we all begin to get wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of what presents we are going to get from others. Each year the emphasis put on presents gets forced on the younger generations more and more when the real importance is spending time with family and showing others compassion and love.
You may think I am going to tell you that the perfect gift would be a car, or a new iPod, cell phone, computer, television, etc, but the real perfect gift is love. There are so many families even Fort Mill that won’t be getting the newest technology or the best clothes for gifts, but they will only receive the love and compassion from their family. Compared to the belief, these people will be the ones who are most happy during Christmas time.
Although it is important to get what you can afford for the ones you love and give all that you can, one day all the material things you get won’t matter anymore. Instead, will be the time you all spent together, the memories you made and the love you all shared together. How many pairs of socks, bags, earrings or shoes will no longer matter once they are of no use to you anymore. If you do not show how much someone means to you and how much you love them, then one day you will regret it because they will no longer be around for you to make it up to them.
Why would you want to make it up to them later in life when you could do it all this year? Show how much every person in your life means to you, not by just material gifts, but by the compassion and love you show towards them. Step out of your bubble of selfish ways for a little while and reach out to those who need you most. Believe it or not, you probably need it more than to those you are going to be reaching out.
