This Monday, August 29, at 6:30 p.m. is open house for first semester classes. Open house is a great opportunity for students’ parents to meet their teachers and show them their classes. Open house is scheduled after school starts to allow for schedule changes. Usually all schedules are not final in set classes until the first or second day of school. Administration wants parents to attend the classes their students know they will be in for the entire semester.
Open house will begin with a brief meeting in the auditorium. Principal Christopher will be welcoming parents and explaining the agenda for the evening. Principal Christopher will also be highlighting upcoming school events,
Once the parent meeting with Principal Christopher concludes, students’ and parents will visit each class on their schedule. They will attend each class for about 10 -15 minutes in order for parents to get a feel for who the teacher is and understand what will be going on in the class throughout the semester. “Parents will receive the syllabus the students received on the first day of school,” commented Assistant Principal Wilson.
It is important for students and parents to attend open house so parents will stay informed of classes, teachers, and class events. Keeping parents informed of all things going on in the classroom will help with students’ commitment to work for the class. Students’ will be more likely to talk to their parents about problems with work and in a class if the parents are properly informed. Teachers will ask for parents emails and phone numbers, by doing this parents will stay informed throughout the semester. So, do not miss out on this great opportunity to bring parents to school. It will benefit students in the long run so parents make sure your student is present also.
