On December 7, 2010, the art, band, chorus, and drama students held Christmas with the Arts in the Auditorium at 7pm. There were performances from the chorus, a selection of band students, and the dance team, in addition to displays of many students’ artwork in the lobby of the Auditorium. There was no admission to get into the show, just the sheer enjoyment of all the talent that was being shared.

The entire show lasted about 30 minutes and showcased much talent. The chorus sang two Christmas songs wonderfully to start off the show. Next, a selection of the band performed two different Christmas songs.  The dance team had prepared two dances for their performance as more of the band closed the show. The performers for the show have been practicing and preparing for the showcase of talent for weeks prior, and they all looked wonderful. A large amount of the public attended and even a good number of students came to the show. If you missed the show, you really missed out on some amazing performances of talent.

Alex Earnest and Claire Kuhlkin, as wonderful and lively hosts of the show, kept the audience waiting for the next performance. Overall this performance was just an “Opportunity to showcase all the different talents at Fort Mill High School and give them the spotlight for a few minutes,” Michael Dove, the chorus teacher and director of all the Fort Mill High plays, said.

If you did not get the chance to come out this year and admire the lively variety of talents at Fort Mill High School, then make sure you come next year to Christmas with the Arts, because it will be more spectacular in years to come.
