Everyone knows who Travis Wall is right? If you don’t know who he is you must have been living under a rock these past few years. The “So You Think You Can Dance” contestant-turned-choreographer-turned-Emmy nominee, 24, has made quite a big name for himself since he first debuted on the shows’ second season in 2006. Although he didn’t walk home with the prize, he didn’t let that stop him. Wall has gone on to become one of the biggest and most wanted choreographers in the dance world. He has recently been asked to join the amazing dance journey for Step Up 4.
During the second season of SYTYCD, Wall was interviewed on how the show has been for him as he was voted off and he said, “It’s definitely been a roller coaster. I had my eyes on it the whole time, when I went on the show. When I exited the show I told them ‘I will choreograph for this show one day’”. During this past season Wall surprised the viewers as appearing as a guest judge this summer. Wall said, “I loved it, especially after so many years of sitting in the audience or watching at home, just wishing that some of the judges would say some of the things that I wanted to say.” He also added how nervous he was at first but was glad to be given the opportunity to give specific and technical critiques.
Giving a little sneak peak at the idea for the new Step Up 4 movie, but not revealing the best of it, Wall says that this new edition is not so much about the streets. He comments on it by saying it is based more around a hip hop flash mob where the film will be bringing together a hip-hop dancer and a contemporary dancer. The new soon-to-be release reveals many previous stars from the show sharing the spotlight with each other. These fan favorites from SYTYCD are Kathryn McCormick (Season 6), Billy Bell (Season 6), Twitch (Season 4), Nick Lazzarini (Season 1) and Tony Bellissimo (Season 5). Also a newcomer who has never had any type of previous formal dance training in his life, Ryan Guzman, will be premiered in the movie.
Make sure to keep an open eye for Wall’s new pilot for a reality series, “Kings of Dance,” which will be following him in the life of choreographing in L.A. Wall said, It’s about me and my two best friends, Teddy Forance and Nick Lazzarini…We’re like the up-and-coming dancers-turned-choreographers and we are starting a new dance company together. We’re lifting the curtain on the choreography process.” So make sure you are staying up to date on the fourth sequel to the Step Up phenomenon’s and watch how it has been transformed by Travis Wall’s choreography.
